Game Play

  • We play 6 rounds of rolling for numbers 1-6, ending each time when someone rolls a Bunko (3 of the current number at play) or reaches 21 points.
  • A player receives 1 point for every dice she rolls that bears the number currently at play. The player continue to roll until she no longer rolls the current number. When a player does not roll the current number, the dice are to be passed to the next player.
  • If a player rolls 3 of a kind that are NOT the current number, she gets 5 points and continues to roll.
  • When a player rolls a Bunko (3 of the current number at play), she gets to add 21 points to her score.
  • When a player rolls a Bunko or reaches 21 points, she should call out, "Bunko!" If two players obtain a Bunko at the same time, the Bunko goes to whomever calls it first. Players should track the number of Bunkoes they win, as there is a Most Bunkoes Prize.
  • Once someone calls Bunko, all players stop rolling for that number unless a player has just rolled the current number at play. In that case, the player may continue her turn, and she may add those points to her score.
  • We play in 3 groups of 4 players. At the end of each round, the player with the lowest total points score for that round moves to the next group.
  • Travel is rolling all 2s, unless we are rolling for 2s. When a player rolls a Travel, she gets the stuffed Travel dice. Whomever has the travel dice when the game ends wins the Travel prize.
  • If there is a tie for any of the prizes at the end of the night, those players hold a "Bunko Off" to break the tie. They should all roll at the same time, and the first player to roll any Bunko wins the tie.
  • In the event that a player is absent and no sub is found, a "ghost" will be used in her place. A player at the table with the ghost must roll for the ghost. It is not necessary to keep score for the ghost, and any Bunkoes rolled for the ghost do not count. Rolling for the ghost is simply to avoid giving the table with the ghost the advantage of only having 3 players rolling, rather than 4 players like the other tables. The ghost should rotate tables at the end of each round, rather than the person with the lowest score at that table.
Have Fun!!!
